CarbonBee and Agrial signed a precision agriculture partnership to apply innovative technology

The CarbonBee signed an agreement with Agrial to monitor vegetable quality at the field level.

Agrial is one of the leading French agri-food cooperative groups with 13,000 farmer-members, 22,000 employees, and well introduced fresh ready to use vegetables brands such as Priméale, Florette, Créaline. Carbon Bee is a 3,5 years old company with 15 employees, developing innovative agronomic imaging solutions to monitor plant health. Their unique technology gathers optoelectronic cross-expertise, artificial intelligence and agronomy. It gets the support of various organizations such as BPI, Terralia Poles, Coboteam, Vegepolys, IOTEAM, French Tech & Food Tech networks, Crédit Agricole.

Major trends led Carbonbee to work on high value crops of fresh products such as global warming, border opening (potential transit of pathogens and infectious agents), trends in consumer demand towards organic and sustainable products, harder regulations on the use of agricultural inputs

The CarbonBee sensors are positioned in the production cycle at Agrial's fresh Vegetable branch to reinforce methodologies in analyzing freshness, safety and quality of products. A complete solution is using a hyperspectral sensor (snap shooting visible light and near-infrared) and a software programmed with deep learning* analysis and specific Ag customizations.

Knowing the crops status anytime though the growing cycle makes it possible to react quickly, at the right place, at the right time and with the right agronomic answers. The near infrared sensor identifies diseases and weeds early on with high accuracy; as result, efficiency of crop protection solutions is increased and quantities used to protect those crops decrease. Monitoring early on young seedlings with precision farming tools ensure an significant improvement of crop traceability and predictability, so finished fresh vegetables have more freshness and are more appealing to the final consumers.
