Vietnam: Largest bioorganic fertilizer plant in northern region opens


Ho Chi Minh City-based Que Lam Group has opened its bioorganic fertilizer plant, built at a cost of 500 billion VND (21.54 million USD), in the northern province of Vinh Phuc.

vietnamfertCovering four hectares, the plant – the largest of its kind in the northern region – has an annual production capacity of 250,000 tonnes of fertilizer.

The Que Lam Group’s General Director Nguyen Thanh Vinh said the plant was developed to meet the rising demand for quality organic fertilizer products in 25 northern provinces and cities. It is also Que Lam Group’s second plant in Binh Xuyen district, and the company’s eighth organic fertilizer plant across Vietnam.

Vietnam’s agricultural sector uses 11 million tonnes of fertilizers, only eight per cent of which is organic, according to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Vietnam has 10 million hectares of farmland and organic production covers 43,000 ha of land.
