Andermatt Biocontrol becomes majority shareholder of Anthesis


Andermatt Biocontrol has become a majority shareholder (60 percent stake) in its Greek distribution partner Anthesis Crop Protection and Nutrition P.C.

Founded in 1988, Grossdietwil, Switzerland-based Andermatt Biocontrol produces and distributes bioprotection and biostimulant products. 

"We are excited about this important step of close collaboration with Anthesis which will definitely support our strategy to create a large offer of biologicals for Greek farmers," says Daniel Zingg, CEO of Andermatt Biocontrol.
Anthesis, located in Athens, Greece was founded in 2000 by its managing director and former majority shareholder George Komianos. Anthesis supplies biological plant protection products, biocides, plant stimulants and nutrition specialties in Greece. Komianos remains managing director as well as minority shareholder of the company Anthesis. 
"There is a great cultural and entrepreneurial fit between Anthesis and Andermatt Biocontrol. We are proud to be a part of the Andermatt Biocontrol network and will ensure that we continue our solution-oriented approach in Greece," says Komianos.
By taking a majority shareholding in Anthesis, Andermatt Biocontrol invests in the development of its current and future product portfolio in the Greek market. he shareholding of Andermatt Biocontrol in Anthesis is based on common values and a mutual vision to contribute to healthy food production and a healthy environment. In return of the sales of its majority in Anthesis, Komianos will become minority shareholder in the Andermatt Group. It is part of the succession plan of the founders of the Andermatt Group to integrate also other biocontrol pioneers as shareholders.
