On March 8, 2013, SQM VITAS acquired from AGLUKON the Controlled Release Fertilizer (CRF) Technology, Plantacote® Business and Brand name. The deal shall be effective as from May 1, 2013 onwards. SQM VITAS will build a global production facility in a strategically located port area in Western Europe, where SQM VITAS just recently acquired a long term concession.

This new Global Facility will produce both premium and standard CRFs under the Plantacote® brand name in order to supply worldwide customers, active in horticulture, agriculture, turf, growing media and consumer markets.

OCP S.A. and its partner Prayon announced end January the signing of an exclusive licensing agreement relating to Prayon’s water soluble MAP (*) technology, globally recognized for the quality of its industrial processes in the water soluble fertilizer sector. OCP will exploit the technology in a water soluble MAP fertilizer production plant, which will have an annual production capacity of 100kT. The plant, which is expected to start production in June 2015, will be constructed at OCP's industrial platform in Jorf Lasfar, Morocco.

 The signing of this agreement with Prayon is OCP’s first step into the precision fertilizers market. It is also consistent with key components of OCP’s commercial strategy to position itself in new and promising markets, and to develop products adapted to its customers’ needs.

PARIS (20 December 2012) – Arysta LifeScience Corporation and Laboratoires Goëmar announce today the conclusion of two agreements to develop and distribute Biostimulants and Biocontrol products. Under the first agreement, Arysta LifeScience will have exclusivity for several Goëmar products related to Physio Activator® Technology and Natural Protect® Technology. Under the second agreement, Laboratoires Goëmar will have exclusivity for several Arysta LifeScience products related to Biostimulants and Biocontrol technologies. The two contracts also provide the possibility to expand cooperation to new technologies under development.

ICL (TASE:ICL), a multinational fertilizer and specialty chemicals company, announced on Dec 3 that it has launched ICL Innovation Ltd. (www.icl-innovation.com), an Open Innovation program through which it will accelerate its development of sustainable new products and processes to drive the Company’s future growth. ICL will allocate several million dollars a year to fund the program.

On 27 November, Wise SGR S.p.A. acting as manager of Wiseqiuty III funds, signed an agreement to acquire 100% of Biolchim Spa from a group of financial investors. Biolchim top management, led by Leonardo Valenti, is investing alongside Wise in a classic MBO deal.

Biolchim is a company involved in the production and distribution of fertilizers, with a particular emphasis on last generation special fertilizers, sector in which the company is one of the most important players in the global arena. The current management team, which joined the company between 2008 and 2010, has initiated a process of evolution of the company from a leadership position in the Italian market, mainly in the traditional products, to a drastic innovation in terms of products and to an important expansion in the international markets.

As from 1st November the Nu3 factory in Vlaardingen has been acquired by Yara. At the same time the cooperation in the Nu3 joint venture with SQM and ICL has ceased and the smaller Nu3 production facility in Grobbendonk in Belgium has been taken over by ICL. Nu3 BV Vlaardingen will from now on be named Yara Vlaardingen B.V.

The separation of Nu3 does not impact the cooperation between Yara and SQM on KNO3 and other SQM products, neither does it impact the Yara offering of Krista MKP and other products in the Krista range. All the products supplied so far though the Nu3 joint venture will in the future be supplied by Yara Vlaardingen B.V.

Arysta LifeScience and INTERMAG have signed a licensing agreement whereby Arysta LifeScience has been granted access to all formulations of INTERMAG’s proprietary titanimum-based biostimulant technology. The agreement is exclusive for territories outside of Europe where Arysta LifeScience has market access, and non-exclusive for certain countries within Europe (excluding Poland and Slovakia). INTERMAG today successfully markets the product in nine countries in Europe under the tradename TYTANIT™.

Bayer CropScience announced on July 3rd that it has signed an agreement to purchase AgraQuest, Inc. for a purchase price of US$ 425 million (approximately EUR 340 million) plus milestone payments. AgraQuest, headquartered in Davis, California, USA, is a global supplier of innovative biological pest management solutions based on natural microorganisms. This acquisition will enable Bayer CropScience to build a leading technology platform for green products and to strengthen its strategically important fruits and vegetables business, while also opening new opportunities in other crops and markets. Green products control a broad spectrum of pests and diseases and offer farmers integrated pest management programs to minimize development of resistance and maximize crop yields. The acquisition is subject to approval by the relevant authorities.
